Here are two small pieces of fairly thickly woven kasuri dyed cotton. The pattern shown is of sparsely set, highly stylized cherry blossoms and a series triangles that repeat horizontally. Both these designs are weft-based.
The cloth is a dark, almost black, indigo; the warp-based lines are white with some faded orange or safflower dye.
One of the pieces is patched: these are beautifully simple and very nicely hand woven.
