Three Narrow Avian Inspired Designs: Katazome and Kasuri
$35.00 USD
late nineteenth, early twentieth century
shortest piece: 30" x 6", 76 cm x 15 cm
These three pieces of cotton cloth each bear a kind of bird-inspired design. The old, katazome dyed cloth on the top of the three shown here bears the pattern of geese in flight.
The two, long and narrow pieces of kasuri weaving show a repeat of peacock feathers. The group is charming for its design inspiration, the geese being traditional and the peacock feathers being a bit more exotic and seen in later textiles.
Great pieces for study, for a craft or fashion project or just to admire.
