An Unused Sashiko Stitched Cotton Apron: Stripes
mid twentieth century
20 1/2" x 20", 52 cm x 51 cm
When this apron was recently acquired it was found with a few others of similar type, each tacked closed, each unused and each seemingly made by the same hand.
This is an unused, sashiko stitched apron which is hand stitched from woven striped cotton cloth. The apron is stitched from two layers of cloth.
The sashiko stitching which is done over the striped cotton is expertly done and regular in its arrangement. The cotton tie is made from undyed white cloth.
A wonderful accessory with a good deal of visual interest--a delightful garment that is beautifully sashiko stitched.
