An Indigo Dyed Cotton Panel: Sashiko Stitching
$35.00 USD
early to mid twentieth century
34" x 11 1/2", 86.5 cm x 29 cm
This subtle, dark colored and elegant panel of old indigo dyed cotton is composed of pieces which seem to be recycled kimono fabric; the hand loomed cotton fabric is of the type that would have been made in the late nineteenth or early twentieth century
The cloth is sashiko stitched in white thread in five vertical columns and on the two short sides. The piecing of the cotton is so subtle that it is hard to see.
It is a really beautiful cloth and one that can easily be used as an accessory in the home.
