A zokin is a traditional Japanese dust rag which is hand stitched using re-purporsed cloth. Zokin were often made in groups, so very often you will find batches of similar types coming from one home.
This zokin is stitched from about three layers of cotton, the center layer peaking out from the edges of the cloth. The dull purple toned, machine loomed cotton is stitched in broad intersecting diagonals of thick white thread.
It is a handsome old traditional dust rag which certainly can be used in the home as an accessory.
