A Wonderful Zokin or Dustrag: Tsutsugaki
$20.00 USD
ca. mid twentieth century
13" x 8", 33 cm x 20 cm
This zokin, or sashiko stitched dustrag, is sewn from layers of cotton cloth--and is amply clear from the photos--is then densely stictched together.
What makes this zokin so interesting is that it is sewn from an old cotton piece that was taken from a tsutsugaki textile: this zokin shows part of a kamon or family crest.
The indigo blue of the cotton is still rich and intense, and the partial kamon makes this zokin rather unique.
A lovely thing.
