A Vintage Cotton Drawstring Bag: Subtle Stripes
$45.00 USD
early to mid twentieth century
11 3/4" x 9", 30 cm x 23 cm
This is a lovely, hand-stitched kinchaku or traditional, Japanese drawstring purse.
This one is made of a fairly heavy weight, dark, subtly striped cotton exterior; it is lined in deep-colored indigo dyed cotton.
The drawstring is a nicely colored, green himo or braided rope which slips through fully intact cotton stitching. Please know that this drawstring is threaded in such a way that it takes a little patience and work to fully close the kinchaku.
It is a wonderful, traditional accessory from old Japan.
