A Subtle Tone-on-Tone Length of Plaid Cotton: Hand Spun Yarns

$65.00 USD

late nineteenth, early twentieth century
60" x 13 3/4", 152.5 cm x 35 cm

Sometimes beautiful things are very simple. This is the case with this faded, tone-on-tone indigo dyed cotton length.

The piece is a large-scale blocky plaid in two tones of indigo. The surface is worn and the colors have faded and have become very soft; the fading and the surface wear bring out the really lovely quality of the hand spun yarns which is one of the most beautiful attributes about this length.

It is hand stitched from two pieces and it shows two patches. Please note some loss the selvedge near the long patch on the bottom half of the length.

Wonderfully subtle and very attractive--and with good age.
