A Small, Layered Boro Cloth: Wonderful Arrangement
$40.00 USD
ca. mid twentieth century
24" x 13", 61 cm x 33 cm
This artful, layered and stitched collage of cottons seems to have been fashioned primarily from the sleeve of a garment and was probably intended to be used as a diaper or a zokin which is a traditional dust cloth.
The colors are rich and variegated due to light fading, and the arrangement of colors and patterns is unintentional yet beautiful.
A marvelous little textile with a great deal of visual interest.
