A Simple and Beautifully Patched Boro Section: Indigo Dyed Cotton

$45.00 USD

early twentieth century
29 1/2" x 45", 75 cm x 114.5 cm

This is a good-sized, simply patched, pieced-constructed fragment of a cotton boro textile that shows a handsome distribution of patches against a pieced base cloth of narrow, striped cotton.

The wide-striped and plaid patches show themselves off against the somber-toned base which is hand stitched of a few pieces in order to create one area. Clearly all the cloth used to make this textile was re-purposed, the base cloth undoubtedly come from a kimono.

Attractive on its own to display as "unintended" art, this length can also be utilized in creative endeavors around the idea of home decor, accessories or fashion.
