A Shibori Cotton Diaper: Spiderwebs
$30.00 USD
ca. mid to late twentieth century
26 1/2" x 13", 67 cm x 33 cm
This loop of lightweight, powerloomed cotton is dyed in the shibori method--and it is a diaper.
This is a typical traditional Japanese diaper; by "loop" we mean that although the dimensions, above, state that this is "26", 67 cm" long, it is actually twice that since this cloth is doubled up on itself and hand stitched to form a "loop."
The simple, shibori decoration is lovely; the indigo is likely not botanical.
Were the stitching of this diaper undone, it would make a lovely, casual scarf or home accessory.
Really lovely
