A Set of Four Narrow Shibori Pieces: Different Standard Techniques
early to mid twentieth century
each piece approximately: 54" x 7", 137 cm x 17.75 cm
This is a set of four narrow half-widths of indigo dyed cotton shibori showing some classic techniques including two variations on arashi.
The lengths were taken from the collar section of yukata or unlined casual kimono--the set is intended for study or for use in fashion or design projects.
Please note the piece on the left is cut on an angle while the dark piece--a shibori and katazome length--shows deep stains in the center: there is still a good deal of workable material from this length.
This is a nice, tight selection of well-known techniques of Arimatsu shibori.
