A Ragged and Broken Sashiko Furoshiki: Beautiful Design

$35.00 USD

early to mid twentieth century
42" x 38", 106.5 cm x 96.5 cm

This is a very broken sashiko stitched furoshiki--or a traditional wrapping or carrying cloth--which is being offered for those who may like it in this state, who may want to study its beautiful sashiko stitching, or for those who may want to repurpose it into a textile art or fashion design project.

The large-scale kasuri of the cotton base cloth is beautiful and shows two familiar Japanese design motifs, that of the arrow feather and of the double gourd.

The sashiko stitching shows butterflies, flowers and waves.

Charming.
