mid twentieth century

Zokin are traditional Japanese dustrags which are almost always made from layered and sashiko stitched scraps of cloth.
This is a good-sized and very handsome zokin which is sewn from pieced-together recycled cotton cloth which has been sashiko stitched.
The piecing is subtle and rich, so please do pay good attention to the detail photos attached here.
A very good looking zokin with a lovely composition and good color.
