A Pair of Heavily Worn, Heavily Stitched Momohiki: Traditional Work Trousers

$495.00 USD

early twentieth century
31" x 32", 79 cm x 81 cm

Momohiki are a style of wrap-around, tight fitting work trousers that were worn in past eras all over Japan.

This is a pair should be very much considered if you have been hoping to find a good pair of heavily mended momohiki for your collection.

There is so much wear and mending to this pair that it is notable.

They are rich in tight sashiko stitching on the front of each of the legs, and each leg shows a huge, defined block of this stitching which is impressive.

As well, the pair shows intense light fading, ingrained creases from what must have been decades of wear, a few visually unobtrusive holes as well as some fairly consistent surface abrasion, all of which makes sense given the age of the trousers and their history of wear.

Please pay special attention to the detail photos which accompany this entry as they attempt to show, in detail, the density of stitched mending.

Very recommended.
