A Multi-Colored Sakiori Obi: Narrow Slivers of Colors

$95.00 USD

mid twentieth century
110" x 6 1/2", 279.5 cm x 16.5 cm

Shown here is a sakiori obi, which is a traditional kimono sash that has been woven from a weft of shredded, recycled cloth--in this case it is cotton.

The warp yarns are very fine and are brown in color which add a richness of color to the obi.

The weft rag yarns are narrow, horizontal slivers of warm neutrals--brown, mottled grey, slate brown--with some saturated color in the mix: turquoise, pink and garnet red to name a few.

A beautifully colored sakiori obi in good, used condition appropriate with its age.

Beautifully colored and designed.
