A zokin is a traditional Japanese dust rag which is hand stitched using re-purporsed cloth. Zokin were often made in groups, so very often you will find batches of similar types coming from one home.
This rather large zokin is stitched from about two layers of cotton.
The cloth used to make this zokin is of a plaid cotton that has been capriciously sashiko stitched in a wonderfully freestyle pattern in white and black thread.
It is a good looking old traditional dust rag which certainly can be used in the home as an accessory.
