A Length of "White" Boro: Early Twentieth Century

$65.00 USD

early to mid twentieth century
51 1/2" x 13 1/4", 131 cm x 33.5 cm

It is difficult to convey the lovely, neutral, pale-"white" tones of this boro length as their color falls into a category of "non-color" or what could be referred to as "white."

This cloth was once a sleeve of a garment, which, quite understandably, was made of recycled cloth, so the origins of the fragments of this opened sleeve pre-date the garment it was taken from. Some of the cloth on this boro piece seems to be commercially loomed on early, machine powered looms but the mending is completely done by hand and the layout of the patches is beautiful. The length is hand stitched from two pieces.

For those who collect boro, consider this piece. Its pieces are beautifully arranged and the pale color is unusual. It will be a real treat to own this piece.
