A Length of Two Process Shibori: Crisp Pleats Still Intact

$55.00 USD

early to mid twentieth century
27" x 13", 68.5 cm x 33 cm

This is a length of seeming unusued, indigo dyed cotton shibori that has been dyed in the arashi method and also stenciled with an all over fairly large repeat of ivy leaves. The panel is seemingly unused.

The strong diagonals of the arashi shibori still show fairly deep creases or pleating from the method used to create this "storm" or shibori. The ivy pattern is still crisp, dark and bold.

This length was no doubt intended to be used to create a yukata or an unlined, cotton kimono however it seems to have been abandoned before this garment was made.

A great little piece of old shibori showing two processes.
