A Length of Striped Boro Cotton: Great Patching
early twentieth century
63" x 13 1/4", 160 cm x 33.5 cm
This length of narrow striped cotton cloth is hand stitched from two pieces. There are very attractive patches--also of striped cotton (one is a small plaid)--stitched to the piece to reinforce it.
There are seven patches in all.
The hand loomed cotton is well-worn and it is threadbare in some areas. Also there are small, horizontal tears, one prominent one is shown in the accompanying detail photos.
The cotton of this length is worn and softened with age; although it is in some ways delicate, it is also durable enough to be worn as a scarf or to be used in the home as an accessory.
A lovely old boro length with very nice hand loomed cotton.
