A Length of Stitched and Dappled Shibori Cotton: Zones of Technique
early to mid twentieth century
59 1/2" x 13 1/4", 151 cm x 33.5 cm
This length of softly toned, soft and supple textured cotton is dyed in the shibori method.
It shows horizontal bands of stitched shibori interspersed with bands of miura shibori which provides a dappled effect in contrast to the stitched lines.
There are two tones of blue which add a sparkling visual element to the length which overall is in good, used condition.
As this length was taken from a yukata which is a casual kimono there are ingrained creases still seen on the cloth--and there is a small area of unfaded indigo on the top, left of the length and this is shown in the lead photo here.
