A Length of Shibori Dyed Cotton: Whirring Chrysanthemums
$30.00 USD
early to mid twentieth century
25 1/2" x 13 1/4", 65 cm x 33.5 cm
This is a length of indigo dyed cotton shibori that was produced in Arimatsu, one of the towns in Aichi prefecture that was a leading producer and innovator in the production of shibori.
The pattern shows a design of stylized, stitched shibori chrysanthemums that offer a whirring/ meshed gears effect in the way they are conceived and executed.
The shibori is dyed onto a length of commercially loomed, fairly lightweight cotton and is in good, used condition.
Wonderful to look at!
