A Length of Shibori Dyed Cotton: Pine Needle Pattern
$30.00 USD
early to mid twentieth century
25" x 13", 63.5 cm x 33 cm
This is a length of indigo dyed cotton shibori that was produced in Arimatsu, one of the towns in Aichi prefecture that was a leading producer and innovator in the production of shibori.
The pattern shows a design of stitched shibori pine needles: pine needles such as seen in this design suggest marital fidelity as pine needles fall in pairs.
The shibori is dyed onto a length of commercially loomed, fairly lightweight cotton and is in good, used condition.
Wonderful to look at!
