A Length of Shibori Dyed Cotton: Bold Graphics
$30.00 USD
early to mid twentieth century
27" x 12 1/2", 68.5 cm x 32 cm
This is a length of indigo dyed cotton shibori that was produced in Arimatsu, one of the towns in Aichi prefecture that was a leading producer and innovator in the production of shibori.
The pattern is bold and almost aggressive with its forceful and opposing dark and light design and the jagged, dynamic, large-scale image that composes this length.
The stitched mokume shibori and tied pattern is dyed onto a length of commercially loomed, fairly lightweight cotton and is in good, used condition.
Inventive.
