A Length of Patched Narrow Cotton: Boro Yogi Collar
$60.00 USD
late nineteenth century
67" x 7", 170 cm x 18 cm
This long and narrow patched boro cotton cloth was no doubt the collar section from either a long kimono or, more likely, a yogi or a kimono-shaped duvet.
The hand spun, hand woven cotton is dyed a very nice medium-toned blue. It shows wonderful patching and each side is wonderful to look at.
ThereĀ are two cotton patches: one is a deeply toned rustic shibori piece and the other is a green tinged cotton patch. The green patch is covering three holes and the look of the mending is charming.
A curious fragment that has good age and is a delight to behold.
