This length of hand woven coat is subtle and handsome. It may have been taken from an "everyday" kimono or it could have once been part of a futon cover.
The warp yarns are primarily indigo dyed cotton; the contrasting color stripes to the dark indigo are of tsumugi or homespun silk. The length is hand stitched from two separate pieces and is in good condition.
A good looking length of handwoven cloth from old Japan.
