A Length of Large Scale Kasuri Design: Bold Images

This is a nicely woven length of boldly patterned indigo dyed kasuri cotton that shows a large-scale, vertically oriented repeat.

The cloth was undoubtedly taken from a futon cover. It shows what seems to be a variation on the well-cover motif (the square-shaped, warp and weft kasuri design) whose visual foil is two interlocking curves which are rendered as weft kasuri.

There is a patch or two on the back of the length which is slightly light faded overall and has a bit of surface wear, not surprising for its age.

This length if definitely eye-grabbing and can easily command the space it is displayed in if you choose to admire as art work.
