This is a length of indigo dyed katazome cotton that has been stitched from two pieces and shows a nice array of mending patches to its reverse side which is highlighted here.
The cloth is lightweight and there are some threadbare areas near the seams at both sides of the selvedge and there are some small holes to the body of the piece.
Four mending patches are hand stitched to the surface of the cloth.
The cloth is of a very nice design. It shows a repeat pattern of rain capes, sedge hats, folding fans, stylized snowflakes, cherry blossoms and incense naming glyphs.
The cotton is well-worn and faded. The yarns are home spun and the length is hand woven.
Very handsome this length of boro katazome cotton shows a complex repeat pattern well worth having a look at.
Beautiful.
