A Length of Kasuri Dyed Cotton: Black, White and Patched

$65.00 USD

early to mid twentieth century
65" x 13", 165 cm x 33 cm

This is a length of kasuri cotton whose color is almost black in tone. The pattern is based on vertical stripes of a very faintly warm tone in between which is a repeat pattern of white designs.

The cotton is hand woven and drapes beautifully or heavily in the hand. On the third photo you will see a patched "notch." This indicates that this length was taken from either a kimono or a kimono-shaped duvet called a yogi.  The patch to this area is loosely attached to the length and is a bit floppy when seen from the back.

Beautiful in its abstraction this is a very handsome length of kasuri woven cotton.
