A Length of Indigo Dyed Cotton Arashi Shibori: Sawtooth Design
$80.00 USD
ca. mid twentieth century
54" x 33", 137 cm x 33 cm
This is a lovely piece of indigo dyed cotton shibori: the technique used to produce this complex pattern is a from of arashi shibori, arashi meaning storm, so the allusion of the pattern imprinted into this cloth is that of driving rain: many variations of arashi are based on strong diagonals.
The cotton seems not to be hand loomed, however the indigo is likely botanical, if not wholly, then in part.
Densely patterned, this is a stunning length of hand made Arimatsu shibori cotton.
Beautiful.
