A Length of Hand Woven Cotton: Kasuri Dyed Stripes
$75.00 USD
late nineteenth, early twentieth century
66" x 14", 167.5 cm x 35.5 cm
This is a beautiful length of striped indigo dyed cotton whose subtleties and color are very difficult to convey by the images attached here.
The wide, variegated stripes are made in part by kasuri warp yarns which make up a good portion of them. The colors are richer than shown here and they sparkle a bit due to the kasuri warp.
No doubt this length was taken from a futon cover and its striated linear aspect is a very attractive one, as is its color and fine craftsmanship.
Beautiful.
