Not only is this length of woven hemp cloth beautifully patched, its base cloth of indigo dyed kasuri hemp is wonderful for its fine quality weaving: it is a luxurious length of indigo dyed hemp in and of itself.
The seven bold patches are of both hemp and cotton and if you look carefully at the detail photographs here you will see there are some very nice mending stitches used to secure the patches to the base. The arrangement of patches on the cloth is artful and beautiful. In good, used condition.
A very, very good length of patched hemp cloth, a treasure from old Japan.
