A Length of Beautifully Flawed Kasuri Cotton: Symmetrical Geometry

$75.00 USD

early twentieth century
63" x 13 1/4", 160 cm x 33.5 cm

This is a length of handsomely designed indigo dyed kasuri cotton whose pattern is based on a kind of grid pattern set in two columns, each of which shows staggered white squares.

In each of the white squares you will see a bit of faint staining (shown in the detail photos accompanying this post) and on one square you will see stitched mending.  At the top, right corner  on the selvedge there is bit of a tear.

Apart from the flaws on this piece which need to be mentioned the better aspect of it is the beauty of the design and its weaving: it is a very good length of old kasuri cotton.
