A Group of Featherweight Silk Fragments: 19th Century Benibana Dyeing

$65.00 USD

ca. mid twentieth century
8 pieces, each one measuring about 42" x 13", 107 cm x 33 cm

This is a group of extremely lightweight silk pieces which, when put together, would comprise the better part of the lining of a juban or under kimono.

The pieces are dyed in benibana or safflower (with the exception of the blue piece, which is indigo dyed) and the orange color, which is strong, is lightly faded in some areas.

A wonderful, fairly large quantity of botanically dyed 19th century silk.
