A Daifukucho or Ledger Book: Worm Holes
$30.00 USD
early twentieth century
14" x 5 1/2" x 1/2", 35.5 cm x 14 cm x 2 cm
This is a very nice, old daifukucho, which is a hand bound, hand written book that was originally used for inventories, for accounting, for ledgers or as a record of loans.
This one is about 2/3 filled with hand writing done in sumi or charcoal-based ink. Its two covers show hand written kanji or Chinese characters and the binding and tie to the book is original to the piece. As can be seen on the accompanying photographs, there are many worm holes thoughout the book.
A good example of a traditional daifukucho, with its original, intact cording.
