A Box of Tiny Bobbins of Indigo Cotton Yarn: Hand Wound

$75.00 USD

early to mid twentieth century

This little home made treasure box contains 14 small bobbins, each one carrying cotton yarn, most of it indigo dyed. The cotton yarns are wrapped around very narrow sections of bamboo.

The charming, well-used container is a repurposed cardboard box covered in lovely paper probably from the 1920s or 30s or so.

A delightful little remnant from old Japan, this object stirs the imagination asking questions of who owned this and what was intended for these small, wound bobbins?

Lovely.
