A Resist Dyed Boro Furoshiki: Hand Spun Cotton

$45.00 USD

late nineteenth, early twentieth century
29" x 25", 73.5 cm x 63.5 cm

This is a beautiful, very worn, used and faded small furoshiki with great age: it is woven with hand spun cotton and resist dyed using indigo.

There are nicks, repairs and holes to the hand stitched piece which can be easily see on the accompanying detail photos. The kamon, or crest in the lower, right hand corner of the furoshiki shows an image of stylized oak leaves.

The center of the furoshiki is slightly distended from having been used hard during its lifetime.

A great, small piece with very good age and wear.
