This good-sized book is comprised of 19 pages, each of which is hand printed from wood blocks and shows over 60 designs overall.
The book is said to have been made as a sort of school text book, one that would be used to teach or illustrate some of Japan's traditional design motifs. Included within are stylized nature--birds, flowers, etc.--to hard geometries.

This is a beautiful treasury giving a glimpse into Japan's design history and one that aims to introduce viewers to this spectacular legacy.
