This is a book of indigo dyed cotton kasuri or ikat swatches.
In total there are 17 distinct designs, 6 of which have been cut down and examples of this can be seen on the accompanying detail photos here.
The book was most likely used to sell bolts of kasuri cloth and probably belonged to a broker/dealer or to a dye works.
The cotton is nicely woven and heavy to the touch; each of the swatches is folded so they are double-sized from their appearance in the book.
The two covers are of card stock and heavy; the covers have shown a good deal of wear as can easily be seen.
A lovely group of boldly designed kasuri patterns and a wonderful study piece.
