A Beautifully Hand Stitched Kasuri Apron: Baseball Motif Rayon Tie
**reduced from $45.00**
mid twentieth century
kasuri area: 20 1/2" x 40", 52 cm x 101.5 cm
This is a seemingly unusued apron which is made from indigo dyed cotton kasuri cloth which is stitched together with the most amazingly detailed stitches, all done by hand and very easily seen on the accompanying detail photos.
This incredibly good stitching can be seen between the three panels and also as it finishes the bottom of each of the panels. There are also some curious stitched diagonals to be seen--these could be semamori or talisman stitching which is intended to protect the wearer of the garment from harm.
But have a look at the apron's tie: it is made from a recycled boy's (probably rayon) kimono and shows a baseball motif--just wonderful!
A very interesting apron and one with great quirks.
