A Bag or Box Carrier: Brocade Silk and Interesting Construction

This is a brocade silk bag that is interestingly constructed.
It has a rectangular base. The drawstring part is affixed to two area which join in the center of the front and back of the bag, the idea of this construction being that it is easy to put in and remove a box from this bag. Perhaps it was used to carry a bento.
The very nice cording seems original to the bag, the silk is a bit frayed around the bottom edges as can be expected. The bag is lined in cotton.
A curious and still usable old bag from Japan's traditional past.
