A Length of Shibori Dyed Cotton: Chrysanthemum Petals

$30.00 USD

early to mid twentieth century
24 1/4" x 13", 62 cm x 33 cm

This is a length of indigo dyed cotton shibori that was produced in Arimatsu, one of the towns in Aichi prefecture that was a leading producer and innovator in the production of shibori.

The pattern shows a design of highly stylized, stitched shibori chrysanthemum petals that are richly abstracted and are more design elements than they are realistically rendered petals from a flower.

The shibori is dyed onto a length of commercially loomed, fairly lightweight cotton and is in good, used condition.

Wonderful to look at!
