A Length of Indigo Dyed Shibori: Stitched Blips
$30.00 USD
early to mid twentieth century
24 3/4" x 13", 63 cm x 33 cm
This is a length of indigo dyed cotton shibori that was produced in Arimatsu, one of the towns in Aichi prefecture that was a leading producer and innovator in the production of shibori.
This length shows a repeat of densely-set, diagonally placed stitched "blips," which in some way recall a school of small fish although this pattern is not intended to create this association.
The cloth is in good condition and is a fine example of Arimatsu shibori.
