A Length of Patched Plaids: Boro Panel
early twentieth century
69" x 13 1/2", 175 cm x 34 cm
This length of plaid boro cotton cloth is hand stitched from two distinctly colored and pattern plaid pieces.
The short piece at the top is high in contrast while the long piece on bottom is handsomely colored in tones that are close in value.
The body of the cloth shows a good looking group of five patches that are mostly clustered in the center of the length, the contrast of their color to the base--as well as their arrangement--is well-done and gives the piece visual interest.
Good in color, good in patching, this is a really lovely and good-sized length of boro cotton taken from a futon cover.
Beautiful.
