A Length of Indigo Dyed Cotton Shibori: Fawn Dappling and Ivy

$50.00 USD

early to mid twentieth century
59 3/4" x 13 1/2", 152 cm x 34 cm

This length of old, indigo dyed shibori cotton is straightforward in its rather simple design.

It shows a background of small, tie dyed dots referred to in Japan as "fawn dappling." This dark toned, dotted background is studded with small, tie dyed images of stylized ivy which is a popular motif used in family crests and one with an ancient lineage of use in Japanese design.

The indigo is deeply toned and the length is in good, used condition. As it was taken from a yukata or an unlined, casual kimono there are ingrained creases.
