This indigo dyed cotton kasuri (ikat) kimono shows layers of patches which create a fabulous blizzard of visual information, especially on the proper, back, interior of the garment, which is highlighted in photos here.
The base of this very mended kimono is a nice, small figure indigo dyed kasuri cloth: the addition of the multitudinous patches creates a whole other type of garment: boro garments, clothing that are very patched and mended, are quite collectible the world over.
Pay special attention to the detail photos which illustrate all the various fragments of cloth that have been joined together to strengthen this kimono, and which now gives us great visual pleasure. As well, look at the shots with views of the proper exterior of the coat, which show a multitude of elliptical shaped patches.
Very recommended.
