A Pieced Rice Bag: Komebukuro on the Bias
$55.00

ca. early to mid Twentieth century
8" x 9 3/4", 20 cm x 24.5 cm

Beautifully made, this hand stitched bag is created from scraps, but arranged in a way that is festive. Good reason: these kinds of bags were used to carry rice offerings to local temple festivals, so they were made to reflect the festival mood.

Within the fold of the bottom of the bag is a wonderful pair of indigo cotton patches, a nice visual suprise.
