This long and beautifully scrappy cotton fabric is sewn from two to three layers of cloth, the hand stitching which is holding the layers together is done in grid formation.
Most likely this cloth was used as a diaper, however its original use is unclear. Still, this is a lovely, simple boro cloth, very much of the type used in homes in old Japan, and still very usable today as home accessory.
Note some tears and abrasion to the surface of this boro textile.
