A Large, Layered Pieced Boro Textile: Indigo Dyed Cotton
$165.00

ca. mid twentieth century
48" x 36", 122 cm x 91.5 cm

This boro cloth is very sturdy as it is stitched from two layers of pieced cotton, each layer of which is hand stitched.

It is a sewn from recycled, hand-woven cotton indigo textiles and in its previous incarnation it was most likely intended to be some kind of floor mat for sitting or napping.

The sewn design is straightforward and practical, and the textiles are still quite strong.  This type of cloth would work very well as a small area rug, a throw for the bed or couch--and it would be also very nice hung on the wall to be admired.

A lovely and very accessible boro cloth from old Japan.

Recommended.
