Indigo Five-Panel Sakiori Carpet, Padded and Backed with Recycled Kimono, Very Fine and Rare
$890.00
Showa Period, c. 1930 65" x 65" 165cm x 165cm
An exceedingly fine sakiori rug, rare for its all-over indigo weft and its near-perfect condition. This is a superb and highly recommended sakiori carpet. Indigo colored sakiori is the most desirable due to its scarcity. Free of stains or wear, this wonderful carpet shows alternating dark and white cotton warp threads which account for the subtle striping throughout. Its reverse is made of discarded blue-striped cotton kimono with expert patching as reinforcement. This sakiori carpet is as fine an example as you will ever see.
